Welcome to our new web site! I hope it helps you to make a good start on planning you Glacier Country experience.
We have been quite busy over our quieter winter months getting our accommodation ready for our busy summer.
It was with little sadness that we said goodbye to the old Aztec style bedspreads late November and welcomed in our new bedspreads.
I’m really happy with the look of the rooms now with their canvas prints of unique local images (many are scattered through this web site) and the painting of the walls and ceilings in the studio.
We were going so well with the paint brush / paint roller we kept going and gave the exterior of the building a paint and the roof a wash (gee it is steep up there).
Our latest investments in making sure our guests have a great night's sleep and an enjoyable stay was the installation of a Heat Recovery Unit in to each studio room. No more crying windows in the morning and it keeps the studio fresh. To understand what this was all about check out www.hrv.co.nz
In the village the Glacier Hot Pools that recently opened are proving a great hit. They are just a 2 minute walk from the motel. As an extra service we are providing fresh towels to take down with you to save purchasing the use of the towels at the hot pools. Three main pools are a delight to sit in when it is raining, covers over them keep the worst of the rain off and the water dripping off the ferns brings the dense bush the surrounds the pools alive. The pools are open till 10pm and are NZ$22.50 for general admission.
Massage is also available at the pools now with a ½ hour massage NZ$80 (longer available) this also included admission to the three main pools. Reservations are essential for a massage and we can help you out with this.
For those bird lovers out there a new local web site dedicated to birding is now all go. Several companies offer ways of exploring the massive, natural lagoon at Okarito. Check out the site www.birdingwestcoast.co.nz
Over the winter I have also been building a new Glacier Country Tourism Group Web site. There are 90 tourism operators in the region and it is great to have everyone easy for you to fine on the one site. Check out the Glacier Country web site - it has everything on it!!! (www.glaciercountry.co.nz)
If I can be of any help do drop me a line, I look forward to your visit!
